Hawt Hair vol. 2 - Hair Fair 2009

OMG! It's my favorite time of year in SL because the Hair Fair has started. I absolutely hate trying to get into the fair because it seems impossible but once I get inside I feel like I'm in hair heaven. It took me about 6 hours over the course of 3 days to visit all the stores. I won't even begin to speculate about how much I spent, but I bought a lot of hair.... smh.

In case you are not familiar with the Hair Fair or are tempted not to participate, here's a little information that will hopefully change your mind. The Hair Fair is a 2-week event that congregates all things related to Hair in Second Life. The Fair spreads over an area of more than 2 million square feet, has a Candy Land theme, and its goal is to raise money for Locks of Love .

Locks of Love is an awesome charity because it helps millions of kids who are deprived of one of the marks of normality – having hair. Specifically, Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

This year's goal is to raise $12,000 for the charity. If you love hair in SL, you can't miss this event.

My previous blog entry features a few of my favorites from the fair and here are a few more (in no particular order).

Moon from Maitreya:

Madamoiselle from Vanity Hair:

Dog Roses from lamb:

Cake from Magika:

There are hundreds of beautiful styles to choose from but I was most impressed by the offerings from Maitreya, Magika, Lamb, and Booperfunk (I love those fros). So go out and support Locks of Love and get yourself some fabulous hair. The fair ends on July 4. As you prepare to visit, consider wearing as few prims as possible... that means going bald, removing attachments, and taking your shoes off. Lag is a beast... please do your part to tame it!!!

Summer Looks vol. 2 -- The Swimsuit Edition

Summer is my favorite season for fashion and fun. I just love the colors and fabrics associated with summer. I also love the idea of baring a little skin to accentuate the assets :-). After all, my fashion philosophy is less is more. No, I don't have stripper tendencies and I'm not talking about walking around the grid half naked, what I mean is that you do not need to accessorize to clown proportions to looking stunning.

I'm a very laid-back person, so I also fully appreciate the leisurely vibe that comes with summer. I'm most often at peace and completely relaxed during this gloriously warm season. For me, summer and swimwear go hand in hand. Nothing relaxes me more than lying on the beach and not many summer activities that are more enjoyable than pool parties with my friends and family. For me summer and swimwear go hand in hand, it's a must have item for your inventory if you wish to enjoy the season.

You should always look fabulous, no matter what the activity. Beach outings and pool parties are no exception. In fact, I find them to be awesome opportunities to show off your fashion sense. To that end, let me introduce you to a few hot suits I found in SL. The costs of these suits vary a bit but they all are well made, offer a good amount of coverage, and scream SEXY!!!

First up, is the Thong bikini in pink from Dread or Dead... It's the perfect bikini because nobody will look hotter than you when you wear this. Another good thing about it, is that it's very affordable... only 50L and comes in several bright summer colors. The hair is one of my favorite styles from this year's Hair Fair... It's from Lamb and called Babys on Fire... Ummm, yes I am in this bikini!

Next up, is a new very sexy one piece I got from MichaMi. I love the detail and the cut of this suit. It accentuates our curvy goodies. It comes in several layers and 12 colors. The hair is by Truth and is called Sophia. It's available at the 2009 Hair Fair.

This last one is made by one of my favorite SL designers Dadina Dosei of DD Style. It's the Python bikini in black. My look is a simple one with just the suit. However, Dadina created a pareo, some beautiful snake accessories and sunglasses just for the pool party diva in you. The hair is one of Magika's Hair Fair 2009 offerings. It's called "Is". I love it because it looks so soft and feminine.

I snapped these pictures at the lovely Las Arenas Rosados Sim. It's a gorgeous sim, you should check it out. I realize that I haven't been providing links and I'll try to do better someday soon. Until then, if you can't find items I list here by searching, send me a notecard or IM in world and I'll gladly give it to you.

Summer Looks vol. 1

YAY!! Summer is almost here. I'm not sure about you but it's my favorite time of the year as it relates to fashion and fun. I love the cool fabrics and the whole go bare if you dare vibe that summer gives. I'm in the mood to show you some of my favorite new summer looks, so here goes...

First up is Marine Suit by Samahi Couture. I love this suit because it's versatile, fun and sexy. Samahi makes some beautiful dresses but this suit caught my eye mainly because of the way it hugs my curves... it makes them look dangerous LOL. Also, this suit can be worn just about anywhere, which is always a plus. If you haven't checked Samahi Couture out... you should. In case you're interested my hair is GIC128 by Boon (I modded the style a little but the store version is cute). My shoes are the Glam Bootie by Stiletto Moody in Midnight.

Next up is more reflective of my personal style. It's an Imani Enzo mix n match creation. The pants are Journey in Cream Tea by Elephant Outfitters. The top is part of the Upgrade You stage outfit from Meghindo's Touch of Sensuality. I love this look! The light cool color is perfect for summer and the soft flowing fabric in the top makes this outfit perfect for a night out on the town. The detail on this top is amazing and ultra femine. It's hard not to feel beautiful in this outfit. The hair is by Miu Edman, one of my talented classmates from UVogue. Her new strore is called Mirone and features some very nice styles including this one called Adie. Show Miu some love by visiting Mirone which is located on the GLANCE Sim. The shoes are Greta by Stiletto Moody in gold.

The next outfit is the Cleo jumpsuit by House of Beningborough in Coral. I think it's a flirty casual perfect for just about anything. Shoes are by Asri Falcone and hair is Mirone.

The last one for today includes separates by Baiastice. The shorts are called Sophisticated Pants and come in several colors . The top is called Arrow and comes with the necklace pictured below and matching earrings. Arrow comes in multiple color combinations and the jewelry colors can be changed to match any of the tops. I'm in love with the new collection from Sissy Pessoa as it offers a wide variety of beautiful things. Stop by Baiastice and have a look. My hair is Latte by amerie's NAUGHTY in black.

Well that's what I have for now. I hope you enjoyed the looks... if you didn't, hang in there, I'm sure I'll have something for you soon. Oh yeah... Photography by moi \0/! Later...

Public Service Announcement

Alright ladies today’s message is a little overdue. However, let’s go there anyway, SL is a place to be creative and as cute as you want to be. That being said, I don’t understand the inspect blocker phenomenon at all. In fact, I find the concept to be obnoxious and somewhat neurotic. If you are going to contribute to lag, why not do it with fabulous hair or bling if that’s your thing. Wear whatever but turn the darned inspect blockers off.

Why you ask? Well for starters, being unique is possible, but it’s hard especially considering the fact people don’t stop selling an item because you bought it. Let’s face it most things are available in abundance in SL because the creator’s are trying to earn money. Why stifle someone else’s growth with YOUR vanity?

More than that, let’s face it… anyone who has been in SL more than 6 months can pretty much tell where you bought something and are probably clicking to see if they are right. Just like you, we shop at Bijou, Armidi, Mirai, Boudica’s, Indyra’s Originals, and ETD. I hate to let you know this but nobody wants to be like you, the clicker is probably at their group limit or their messages capped and they failed to get the memo that new releases are available. I’m not hating at all… I’m just saying… I’ve never once looked at another avatar and said ooh I want to be just like her… smh.

You may also want to know that the little gadgets are not perfect. Case in point I was in a club recently and encountered several of you with cute hair so I clicked… smh at the blocker and clicked again… then once more… BINGO… your hair was from Mirai as I suspected and your blocker friends got theirs from KIN… Three clicks is a little more work than I wanted to do… but well worth it because my strategy worked the first time on the others. While, I’m a novice at beating the blocker, I know people who are pros. Hell, I know people who can tell me where you bought something with a snapshot… Sorry, but I don't think you can block those.

The point is simply this, why even bother to waste money like that when people who really want something will get it anyway… while you know nothing about it. I’ve learned that the best way to find something in SL is to ask groups and creators. Fashion group members are likely to share because people share with them and creators will tell you where they got accessories and hair because you are a customer and they value their business.

I fancy myself to have a pretty stylish avi and I have no problem sharing info with others who happen to like something I’ve found. More importantly, I don’t even care if you click on my hair and clothes to inspect for the creator. All I ask is that you leave me some space when you click. :P My creativity lies in the fact that I rarely wear any outfit as it is packaged by the creator…

I know that I’m not the only one who is annoyed by this concept. I also know that I am not the only one who wonders just how much inspecting those ladies who use the blockers do on the sly… lol. Ok I’m done. Shout outs to all the ladies who allow for others to freely inspect. I salute you and thank you on behalf of the talented designers who are on SL to sell their products. Be blessed and don’t forget to check out the new releases at KIN and Mirai if you haven’t done so already. ROFL
